Is the water that comes out of your faucet cold? Some homeowners experience problems with tap water that is warm, either right from the start when they open the faucet or later on after the water has been running for awhile. What could the cause be? There are many different reasons why this could happen, so you might need to do some research to find out.

If the water is cold in the summertime, but has issues in the wintertime, it could be that it is being heated up by your heating system, either from running next to a heating element or from sitting in pipes next to radiant floor heating.

On the other hand, if it is cold in the wintertime but warm in the summer, this could be due to the water sitting in pipes in an uninsulated area of your home where it gets very hot.

If this is a year-long problem, it could be due to the hot and cold water pipes sitting too closely together.

In most cases, insulating your water pipes is the solution, since it will minimize the influence of the surrounding temperature on your water.

What might be the problem when you are noticing bubbles coming out of your toilet when you take a shower? You might not think much about it, but this could actually be a sign of a serious problem with your plumbing system. What happens is called venting, and it is from air trying to find a way out of the system, and the normal vent being blocked for one reason or another.

There is a venting pipe that will let this air out, but it is quite possible that is has gotten blocked by debris getting in the pipe, or even a nest of a bird or rodent in there. You will need to have this blockage removed for your plumbing to work properly again. Sometimes this might require you to contact a plumber, but it is also possible to take care of it yourself if you have a snake or something similar that will reach the clog.

We all have different upbringings. Some of us might have had parents that put a lot of emphasis on keeping your living area tidy, while others might not have cared at all. Usually, this is something that we bring with us into our adult lives. That is why some homes will be pristine while others will be like walking through a maze. While having a lot of clutter at home might not seem like a problem to you, it could actually affect the sale of your home. How is that? When a potential buyer sees the clutter in your home, it makes your home look smaller. Having a lot of items loose in your garage can also make it look like that there isn’t enough storage in your home.

Clutter also provides an excellent hiding spot for rodents, bugs and other pests. Sometimes, an infestation can go unnoticed for a longer time than it should have.

If you live in a bad area of the town that you live in, it might be wise to install security cameras to protect your property, and your family as well. Here are some tips to know what kind of camera might be best for you.

The first type of camera that is out there is the IP camera. The IP camera uses high quality resolution through your internet connection in order for you to see what’s going on in your house or around your house from a remote location, for example say that you’re at work and you want to check to see what’s going on at the house, you can just look at an app on your phone and the cameras will pop up.

The next camera type that you have is the analog interface camera. This type of camera uses an analog type connection that can interface with a monitor in your home, using a wired connection to allow the use of surveillance around your home. While this may be good for limited uses, it will cost extra money to have all the wires installed and cameras, so the IP camera might be the way to go especially with new technologies that are rising today.

Keeping your family safe and your house protected are definitely on your top priority of things in life to do, so by getting security camera such as an IP camera, will further keep your family and your house safe.

Radio Waves – Helpful or Harmful? https://hawkseye.org/radio-waves-helpful-or-harmful/ Sun, 20 Jan 2019 17:57:49 +0000 https://hawkseye.org/?p=449 The post Radio Waves – Helpful or Harmful? appeared first on Shoreline WA Home Inspections.

Radio waves have now become an aspect of everybody’s life. Whether it be Wi-Fi, waves from your microwave, or even radio waves from you are TVs antenna, radio tower oh, there’s no escaping them. However, while many people may not know is that too much absorption of these waves into the human body can be dangerous. Here’s a couple things to remember that can help you to defend against these.

Make sure you live in an area for one thing that is far enough away from a radio tower. Radio towers emit large quantities of these radio waves, and have been known to cause certain cancers in families that live within a mile or two radius from prolonged exposure. Of course this may take many decades, but in the long-term it can happen. So by limiting yourself and your family from living in this area in the first place, you can help too completely keep your family safe in that regard.

The next thing that you can do is instead of microwaving everything, try using your stove more, or even an electric oven. These do not give off radio waves, that could injure you from prolonged exposure. Regarding your Wi-Fi, keep your router in an area that is kind of disclosed, like maybe in the closet, or in the Attic. That way the signal strength from their weights will be reduced because of the interference from materials in the floor. Keeping these things in mind will not only help to protect yourself and your family, but will also cut back on your energy bill.

Everyone who has fallen on a strip of ice knows how painful and how dangerous it can be.  Knowing how to prevent slips and falls on your sidewalk or driveway can not only help prevent serious injury to yourself or your family, but can help to protect you in the case of someone else falling and getting hurt on your property.

The first thing you can do to prevent injury is by keeping your sidewalks clear of snow and other materials pushed onto your sidewalk from a snowplow. If there is ice, make sure to buy quality rock salt that will melt the ice, and clear a path that will allow passersby to safely cross. If there happens to be snow on the driveway or sidewalk, make sure to either clear it with a snow blower or just by using a snow shovel.

By keeping your sidewalks and driveway clear of snow or ice, you can protect yourself and your family from injury. Most emergency room visits during the winter time are actually a result of slips and falls on ice either at home or on a journey of sorts. Keeping your sidewalks will also keep you clear of accusation if someone tries to say that they slipped and fell on your property in a court of law.

Remembering these things will help to protect yourself and your family, as well as the people around you during the winter months.

So you may need to replace the shingles on your roof due to weather conditions that have taken a toll on your roof over time, so you may need some help on fixing it. In this article we will discuss some tips that you can apply and strategies for successfully completing your roof and getting your house back into a beautiful haven for you and your family.

The first thing that you need to do is obviously strip off all the old shingles. When you take off each shingle, make sure that you take the nails out as well, that way, if you take all the shingles first, you don’t have to worry about tripping or missing a nail that you didn’t see. The second thing you will want to do is to strip off the old paper underneath the shingles, and then that way in case there are wet spots in the paper, you won’t have to worry about it leaking through even after you put new shingles on.

The third thing to do is to paper it with new rolls of ice guard and paper. When you’re done rolling, you can start shingling. Instead of laying down entire rows of shingles, just lay two, and then one on top, then two more at the bottom, then two more the second row, you save yourself from having to constantly get up and get down to move the shingles properly.

Keeping these things in mind will help you to have a safe and dry environment in your home, as well as keeping your family health.

Many people use exercise equipment to keep active, build up muscle, and stay in good shape. However, as with any piece of equipment, gym equipment can cause potential injury to its user in the home. Here are a couple things to keep in mind while using your equipment.

It’s interesting to note that a U.S. consumer product safety commission estimates that around 8,700 children under the age of 5 and over 16,000 children between the ages of 5 and 14 are injured in a year from exercise equipment injuries, such as improper use or just general messing around. So there is definitely a need to raise awareness of the potential hazards. One thing you would want to do is never leave dun bell’s in an easily accessible location, or in an unstable one where the dun bell could potentially fall. Regarding treadmills, each treadmill comes with a safety key, which is required to turn on the treadmill. By keeping this out of the reach of children, it greatly reduces the risk of children activating the treadmill and result in injury.

Another simple thing that you can do is to keep gym equipment in a locked room that is inaccessible. That way your children can’t get to the equipment in the first place. When your working out, you may be distracted by a tv, music, or other things, and may not notice your children behind you or to the side of you. An easy fix is to move the equipment into a spot where you can clearly see your surrounding’s. These are just a couple things you can do to keep your home hazard free from your gym equipment.

Water stoves – is it really a stove that uses water as fuel to cook things? No, however that is a good idea for an invention. A water stove is a wood burning stove that heat both homes and water for hot water tanks. Are these the best stoves that you can get or can they cause more harm than good? Well that is what we will be discussing in this article today.

First of all, water stoves are built in the outside environment, because of the pollution that it sends into the air. Water stoves work in such a way that heat your home and water very well, but can cause damage to the air around your home. This is an example of a trade-off, where you get a bonus but make a sacrifice if you do choose to use it. In many states, the water stove has been outlawed to use because of the dangerous air pollution. In the state of Wisconsin, there are certain guidelines that must be followed where you can have these stoves supplying heat for your home.

Because water stoves have a larger capacity for things to be burned in, homeowners that have water stoves will use these stoves in order to burn things illegally. These things can include garbage, pressure treated wood, and other hazardous materials, which can damage the air even further. With all this in mind, water stoves can be very beneficial in some aspects, but can be more of a danger in most areas.

If you have a pool and young children as well, what is a danger that can fall upon these young ones? Drowning. What can you do to prevent this from happening? Well, in this article we will talk a little bit about a specific device to detect surface waves in your pool, whether it be little children unsupervised or the family pet.

Basically the device is called a pool alarm. There is one contact that sits on top of the water, and one below it. When both contacts detect surface waves in your pool, the alarm goes off. The nice thing about it is that you can also decrease or increase the sensitivity of the alarm. With this in mind, you can more accurately tell who or what is swimming in your pool, unsupervised or not. However, a drawback to the alarm is that you may forget to turn it on, so you may not hear what is going on in your pool until it’s too late.

It should be noted that this device should not be used as a stand alone protection for your children or pets who go into your pool unsupervised. Using other strategies is not only a smart idea, but it will benefit your household in the long run, and keep everyone safe.
